What We Do

“Community-based forestry to strengthen smallholder forestry.”

Trees4Trees works with local communities and stakeholders to grow and manage trees over the long term, supporting livelihoods and sustainable forest management. Programs operate across rural, coastal, and urban landscapes, addressing challenges such as drought, erosion, air pollution, and tidal flooding.

There are many facets to Trees4Trees’ planting programs:

Community consultation

Training and mentoring on good forestry practices

high-quality seedlings production

Long-term monitoring
and support

Participating communities receive free high-quality seedlings and practical training, enabling long-term forest stewardship and access to non-timber forest products.

Why Community
Based Forestry

Community-based forestry links environmental restoration with local livelihoods.
When communities are directly involved in forest management, restoration efforts are more resilient, accountable, and sustainable over the long term.

Community-based forestry is widely recognized as:

A proven approach to sustainable forest management

A mechanism for strengthening rural livelihoods, particularly in developing contexts

A contributor to improved household income and living standards

A driver of positive environmental outcomes at the local level

Tracking from Nursery to Forest

Tree planting is managed end to end – from nursery to field.

Seedlings are grown in-house and planted in partnership with local farmers. Each planting site and partner is recorded in a digital system and displayed on an interactive map, allowing supporters to view planting locations and visualize progress.
